Frequently Asked Questions

What numbers should I know before buying?

We need to know the height you want at the top of the seat. Terms like 'bar height' and 'counter height' mean nothing. We suggest the Rule of Eleven - the height from the floor to the underside of the bar top, minus eleven inches. Let's say the height from the floor to the underside of your bar is 41 inches. Subtract from that eleven inches and you get a 30 inch barstool height at the top of the seat.

This leaves room for your legs.

The other critical number is The Distance Between Barstools. Start with 28 inches, center to center and see if you like it. This measure can go as low as 22 inches apart if you're shooting for an intimate experience.

The last critical number is How Far Away From the Bar. From the face of the bar to the center point of the barstool, try 19 inches. Try this with a variety of people to see if you like it. Since the amount of overhang on the bar is not a standard number, you'll have to modify this distance to suit your installation.

How many color choices do I have?

All of them - seriously, any color you want. Our most popular color is black.

Our basic black is a 20% gloss powder coating designed to reduce finger printing. A high gloss will show fingerprints. If your room allows children, you will have finger prints on your barstool pedestals.

Our Basic Black pedestal color is officially known as "T902-BK208 Black Superdurable 20 Gloss." It's manufactured by Cardinal Coatings to be especially resistant to UV light. That means your barstool pedestals won't developed faded areas where the sunlight hits.

But you can order any color you want. The Cardinal catalog is a good place to start - http://www.cardinalpaint.com/powder/color-chart/,BK

Powder coating is the most durable surface available, but the color offerings can be limited. If you're trying to match a specific color, let us know what you're doing - we've matched to Pantone, PMS, RAL and other paint code systems. It will cost more, it's a little more hassle, but you can have any color you want.

How long does it take to make a bar stool?

Like a quality beer, it generally take 3-5 weeks.

The time it takes for your barstool to go from raw materials to ready to install depends on a number of different factors. Powder coating takes time, at least 2 weeks. Cutting, drilling, all takes time. Building the seats, staining, coating, more time. Shipping takes time, especially around the holidays or pandemic upsurges.

What styles do you have?

Currently we have two: The Seattle Classic and the Ballard Roman. The Seattle Classic is our Art Deco offering, the Ballard Roman is the Art Nouveau.

How do you ship your bar stools?

UPS

Are the bar stools weather worthy?

The barstool pedestals can withstand anything, but the seats are little vulnerable. If you want to subject your barstools to Mother Nature, all we can suggest is this - at least bring the seats inside for the worst part of Winter.

What is the size of your seats?

Our seat are 12.75 Diameter.

How heavy are the bar stools?

Ten to 13 pounds, depending on the seat material and whether you ordered a footrest.

How do you pack and ship your bar stools?

Carefully. We box each pedestal individually and send the seats together in a box. We ship our bar stools with UPS.

Do you guarantee your bar stools?

We have a limited warranty for bolt-down barstools purchased directly from Taken Barstools, LLC

Aluminum Pedestal | 5 Year Limited Warranty

Wood Seats | 1 Year Limited Warranty

Aluminum Swivels | 1 Year Limited Warranty

What are your prices?

Since our costs are tied to fluctuations in the aluminum market, those price can change. That's why we quote your job beforehand, so you know what you're going to pay. Once we quote your project, the numbers are good for 30 days.
